Two students, two staffers in BISD test positive for virus
Two students and two staff members in the Bowie Independent School District have tested positive for COVID-19 the first multiple cases for the new school year.
There were a few cases in the weeks leading up to the start of the year, but these are the first positive case since school opened reported Superintendent Blake Enlow.
The district sent notification letters via e-mail to parents and staff of the high school on Wednesday and Thursday. The Sept. 16 letter noted one student and one staff member, while the Sept. 17 letter was for one student all three at the high school
“Based on the information that we have gathered, it has been determined that the end of the 14-day incubation period for anyone possibly exposed on campus to the employee or student is Sept. 29,” stated the letter.
Another letter came on Friday stating a staff member who works at the intermediate and junior high tested positive. That isolation period will end Sept. 30.
Late Friday Enlow clarified these were not the first case of the year. An employee tested positive the first few days of school and has recovered. He also reported a contract-employee had tested positive and the district was informed Friday.
