If you are looking for a place to enjoy a Thanksgiving day meal or some fellowship on this day of blessings, then consider the Bowie Community Thanksgiving Day dinner.
The Bowie Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 25 at the First United Methodist Church.
Everyone is welcome to share a meal in the fellowship hall or call for delivery or carry out. There is no charge for dinner which is prepared by volunteers and church members, supported by the community and church. First United Methodist Church is located at 1515 North Jefferson.
Delivery orders or to make a reservation to pick up a meal will be taken through noon to Nov. 24. Call the church office at 872-3384. Although not necessary, calling to order the number of pickup of meals will be helpful.
Anyone who would like to help serve, cook or clean-up is invited to be at the church by 9 a.m. or call the church prior to the event.
The Nocona Community Dinner will not take place this year. Longtime organizer Belinda Hendrix reported she has stepped down from that position for health reasons, but was happy to help with any person or group that may want to resume the project. For more than a decade Christ Community Church working with many other volunteers and groups put together this free dinner.

The 22nd annual July Jam returns on July 27 to the Bowie Community Center West Hall, 413 Pelham Street in Bowie.
There will be a “chickin’ pickin’ fiddling fun time” as guests will be entertained by amazing fiddling tunes and enjoying a chicken meal with delicious homemade jams because it wouldn’t be July Jam without it.
Tickets are just $15 with the event starting at 6 p.m. The funds raised help provide awards for the Championship Fiddler Competition during Chicken and Bread Days Heritage Festival on Oct. 5.
This attracts talented musicians from all over to visit downtown Bowie to test their fiddling skills on stage in the Bowie Fire Hall on Oct. 5.
Along with the live fiddling entertainment, come hungry and be ready to outbid your neighbors at the silent auction or just stop by for a great meal, fellowship and soak in the air conditioning.
