City manager updates council on infrastructure issues

Bowie City Manager Bert Cunningham reported on several infrastructure issues in his monthly report submitted to the city council Monday night.
The city has been besieged by sewer problems lately said the manager with numerous work orders each day.

“Our field crews have been doing a great job keeping up, but we will continue to have problems as the weather turns colder. Every time we have a spell of sewer problems, I go to my bulletin board and see if it is an area we are replacing in our sewer line replacement program. Ninety-five percent of the time it is a problem area that is to be replaced,” explained Cunningham.

Hail of various sizes strikes Thursday

Dangerous spring weather continued to plaque North Texas Thursday as hail of various sizes fell across the county. (Top) This one shared on our Facebook page was on State Highway 59 near the Bowie Airport.

Postal workers conducting food drive on May 11

Members of the United States Postal Service will conduct their annual food drive on May 11.
It is a food drive as close as your mailbox, all you have to do is place your non-perishable food items near your mailbox. The letter carrier will do the rest.
This is the annual event that takes place the second Saturday in May. Donations stay in your community. Help stomp out hunger, spread the word.
