Commissioners may choose new sewer/septic inspector on Monday

Published

on

Montague County Commissioners may select a new county sewer/septic inspector when the court meets at 9 a.m. on April 25.
Last month the court met to discuss the duties and the process to replace the late Eddie Fenoglio who had the position for many years. The hiring committee will make its recommendation Monday. An executive session is scheduled with any action on hiring to occur back in open session.
The court will consider appointing a local health authority for Montague County as the term of the present physician, Dr. Chance Dingler, is up for renewal.
Commissioners also will consider hiring additional personnel for training to replace a retiring staff member in the tax assessor’s office.
The sheriff’s office will discuss purchasing an AFIX System which would be used for fingerprinting identification, plus review purchasing GayKey, CellHawk and Cellebrite system and ongoing subscription fees for the office.
Other topics on Monday’s agenda include: Application and order for permit and right-of-way bore in precinct two for EOG Resources, along with accepting unanticipated revenue of $500 from EOG Resources; approve replat in precinct for Bonita Oaks Ranch lots 15 and 16; open sealed bids for emulsified asphalt and prime oil; and consider memo of understanding between the county and the Montague County Amateur Radio Club.

After more than a year of turmoil and upheaval it appears the Amon Carter Lake Water Supply Corporation is back on its feet with a slate of new board members and plans to review by-laws and operations.
Last August all the board members resigned in the wake of a lawsuit by a resident who could not obtain water for a small housing development despite being in the district. The property owner also accused the board of not following open meetings or open records laws, or its own by-laws.
After the board resigned a receivership was requested from the court and was named in December 2025. The receiver or temporary manager was Nocona attorney Zach Renfro, who was directed by the court to seek out possible directors to rehabilitate the association and assure it meets the obligation of continuing to provide water to more than 300 members.
The corporation board conducted its first general membership meeting on March 27 where a state of the corporation was given and new directors

named. They are Kevin McShan, president; Josh Swint, vice president; Carla Swofford, secretary; Wesley Kelly, treasurer; Zach Gunter, Rob Hankins and Chase Thomas, all directors.
