Election filing ends with all but one contested election

It looks like the City of Bowie is the only entity that will be able to cancel its Nov. 8 city council election since it has no contested races on the ballot. Candidate filing came to an end on Monday, and early voting will begin Oct. 24 and run to Nov. 4.
Read about all the candidates for a city council race in Saint Jo, plus school board raises in Saint Jo, Gold-Burg, Forestburg and Prairie Valley in your mid-week Bowie News.
CORRECTION- In the print edition of The Bowie News, the story states Laura Hefley was appointed to her precinct one position. This is incorrect, originally she was appointed to fill out a brief period on the council, but was then elected to that post. We apologize for this error.
