The Bowie golf teams competed at the district tournament this week on two different days and both teams are moving on to the regional tournament.
The boy’s team won the district title to keep its streak going, winning five of the past six years as the team could not compete in 2020 due to COVID-19. The girl’s team finished second to qualify for regionals.
The first day the team played on Monday was at the Weeks Park Course in Wichita Falls and the second day was on Wednesday at River Creek Course in Breckenridge.
Almost everyone’s scores were lower, sometimes much lower, from the second day of the tournament.
The maroon boy’s team shot 336 the first day and 312 the second day.
Andrew Sandhoff had the lowest score from the two days combined, shooting 79-79 as he finished second overall individually after playing five playoff holes.
Cy Egenbacher shot 87-75 as he finished fourth place overall, Zach Harris shot 85-89 and placed fifth, Rayder Mann shot 85-81 and finished sixth while Hunter Lea shot 91-78 to earn ninth place.
With the team trying to get back to the state tournament, this is only the first step in its trek back.
The Lady Rabbits team was led by Miley Thompson who shot 104-93 to finish fourth individually. Tess Egenbacher shot 108-91 to place fifth individually. Emily Cueva shot 120-110, Kendall Fallis shot 126-110 and Emma Read shot 127-110.
Two girls competed individually with their totals not counting towards the team total. Reegan Ferguson shot 117-111 and placed 10th overall individually. Hanna Bell shot 140-100.
There was a second varsity boy’s team that ended up finishing fourth.
Hunter Fluitt led the team shooting 88-80 as he finishing eighth overall individually. Seth Mann shot 100-90, Russell Anderson shot 106-95, Trae Seigler scored 113-94 and Gavyn Brown shot 118-105.
