Gold-Burg, Saint Jo OAPs advance to bi-district

Gold-Burg’s High Schools one-act play “Interview” and Saint Jo’s play, “Ago!” advance to bi-district following district contest on March 29.
Bi-District will be at Graham Memorial Auditorium on April 4. Competition starts at 10 a.m. in about one-hour intervals. Saint Jo is number two on the schedule and Gold-Burg is the sixth and final play of the day. The two 1A schools will compete with Throckmorton, Slidell, Bryson and Newcastle with a chance to move one step closer to state.
“Interview” received best All Around Actor in Corbin Gilbert. Levi Hellinger received All Star Cast and Jimena Garcia, honorable mention All Star Cast.
“Ago!” saw Bailie Nobile and Maxey Johnson received All Star Cast, Layla Polk received honorable mention All Star cast. The best overall crew award also went to Saint Jo and included Julian Luna, Jayden Curry, Macklyn Pittman, Andrea Sanchez and Francesca Voth.
Bellevue High’s one-act, “Dark Road” was named the alternate play for bi-district. Kinley Maxwell received outstanding light tech; Elise Steigerwald and Patience Ramsey were named All Star Cast, and Chloe Shirey, honorable mention All Star Cast.

Forestburg’s one-act saw Jesse Wadsworth named to the All Star Cast; Tristan Cumby and Eli Lowther, honorable mention All Star Cast; and KK Willett, best individual crew for stage manager.

Montague County Grand Jury issues November indicted cases

The following indictments were filed with the 97th District Clerk following the November session of the Montague County Grand Jury.
There were a total of 13 indictments with one sealed awaiting the arrest of a suspect.
A grand jury indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

New transformer arrives at Bowie substation

The new transformer was placed on its pad when it arrived at the City of Bowie electrical substation last Friday. Installation of this 20 Mva transformer, which is larger than the two 1992 original 12.5 units, will begin this week and come on line early in the new year. (Courtesy photos)
