Public hearing set for updated subdivision rules
A public hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on May 28 to present the updated subdivision regulations for Montague County.
This 89-page draft is available for review on the county website at co.montague.tx.us/page/montague.home.
Back in August 2019 the commissioner’s court adopted its first subdivision regulations and apparently it was done just in time. Since Aug. 16, 2019 there have been 24 subdivisions with 465 lots approved by the court.
During that initial discussion there was a lot of contention about even having rules and much debate on acreage and water requirements.
Charley Lanier, subdivision development officer, said the updated regulations primarily center on bringing county rules into compliance with new rules passed by the Texas Legislature. One of the more prominent changes is the law now requires a water availability study for new developments.
After the hearing where public comment will be taken, the court will go back into regular session where it will consider an interlocal agreement with the Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District and adoption of the updated subdivision regulations.
This hearing takes place after the regular court agenda.
Other topics include approval for the sheriff’s office to buy a radio console for dispatch and a budget workshop, where elected officials and department heads can submit their budget requests.
The court will consider naming a private road Ambrose Lane. It is located off Lake Valley Road in Sunset in precinct one.
Precinct four will seek a line-item budget adjustment in the amount of $18,840 from the sale of property to gravel.
