City View gave the Bowie High School softball team all it could handle early.
But, the Lady Rabbits were up to the challenge as they remained undefeated in District 3A-9 action.
Bowie faced a 2-0 deficit, but the Lady Rabbits scored two runs to tie the game in the second inning and then forged ahead for good.
“We’re trying to get rid of the slow starts,” said head coach Brant Farris. “But, the girls once again did a good job of coming back.”
Callie Melton grounded out to second, bringing in Braxton Deford from third for the game-tying run.
Then in the next inning, Petie Wolsey, who went 4-for-4 at the plate, scored from third to gain the lead. Two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings sealed the deal.
Ashlyn Vanwey singled and scored on Wolsey’s RBI base hit. Henslee Ogle doubled and scored on an error in the fifth inning. Both Addy Cook and Vanwey had two hits.
Kellbie Throckmorton notched the win for Bowie. Read more, and see complete box scores and district standings, in the mid-week Bowie News.
