The Stonewall Saloon in Saint Jo received a boost to its renovation efforts this week as the Texas Historical Foundation provided a $5,000 grant to the museum.

During ceremonies Wednesday, three directors from the foundation made a ceremonial check presentation and toured the western museum. Laura Wahlquist Stockdale, Lynne Smith and Jack Wahlquist, all directors on the foundation attended.

Stockdale they are proud to support the museum’s efforts to preserve Texas, and they also applaud the community’s working together in those efforts to preserve the history for future generations.

The Stonewall Saloon was the first permanent structure on the Saint Jo town square and was built to accommodate cowboys as the moved herds of Longhorns up the Chisholm Trail.
