Published

on

Bowie Independent School District Trustees will consider options for selecting a new superintendent when the board meets in a called session at 7 a.m. on Feb. 4.
The board agenda shows an executive session to consider options for the superintendent selection process, followed by any action back in open session.
On Jan. 24, Superintendent Steven Monkres told the board he planned to retire at the end of August after nine years at the helm of BISD. He has spent 21 of his 30 years in education within Bowie ISD.
Traditionally positions are advertised within the district before being posted to the various education job sites. Within Bowie ISD there are two staff members who already have superintendent certification: Bowie High Principal Blake Enlow and Elementary Principal Steven Valkenaar.
