Bowie ISD considers options for left-over bond funds
Thanks to good planning or a competitive building market, Bowie School District has fulfilled all the major projects proposed with its 2012 bond issue with $830,000 left to do a few more.

The 2012 bond totaled $9.25 million and encompassed some high-price renovations that include new heating and air conditioning at the intermediate, baseball and softball fields and tennis courts at the high school, new roofs at the junior high and elementary, demolition of the old vacant intermediate school and renovation of the junior high auditorium. Heat advisory continues into Friday night
The heat advisory that has been in place all week continues until 8 p.m. Friday night.
The National Weather Service reports strong high pressure overhead will bring triple digit high temperatures along with heat index readings approaching 110 degrees for much of next week. To reduce risk of heat related illnesses when outdoors, schedule frequent breaks in shaded or air conditioned areas, and stay hydrated.
Make sure to check on your older neighbors to make sure they are staying cool and hydrates, and make sure pets have shade and water.
