Lucas Thompson, member of the Saint Jo City Council, was appointed mayor Wednesday night to serve the unexpired term of Danny Steadham who resigned two weeks ago.

City Secretary Sherri Davis, whose last day was Thursday, said no decision was made on how to fill Thompson’s council seat. She anticipates the panel will wait until the three new council members take office in November before making a decision.
