Highway 82 widening project ROW buy set to begin

Montague County Commissioners approved three right-of-way agreements with the Texas Department of Transportation on Monday, which confirms county participation in property acquisition to the tune of $310,469 for the U.S. Highway 82 widening project.
Members of the court met with TxDOT officials to review the agreements which explained a 90/10 cost share for the right-of-way acquisition and the moving of utilities. It appears the highway project, is moving on a much faster track than originally anticipated.
TxDOT officials included Scot Reaves, director of transportation and development in the Wichita Falls district; Shaun Barnes, project manager, Jana Johnson and Rodney Murray, ROW subject matter experts.
The project is expected to displace three residences, three vacant structures and one commercial structure.
