Forestburg readies its annual watermelon festival

Published

on

The Forestburg Community Service Club is in the planning stages of hosting the 40th Annual Watermelon Festival on Aug. 8.
“Celebrating 40 Years of Community Service” will be the theme this year. The first watermelon festival took place in August of 1981 to help the Young Homemaker’s Club raise money to build a new community center.
Through the hard work and dedication of those young community-minded women and their hardworking husbands, the community center became a reality. The club has changed names through the years, but the same dedication to their community has persevered.

The parade will kicks things off on Saturday morning and the popular salsa contest returns. The Forestburg Riding Club also plans its annual rodeo.
