City budget wins first reading, tax rate up next

Members of the Bowie City Council approved the first reading of the 2025-26 budget ordinance and conducted the public hearing for the proposed 2025 tax rate at its most recent session.
Laramie Truax and Brandon Walker were absent from the meeting.
The first reading of the budget ordinance appropriates $10,910,214 for the general fund for the 2025-26 budget and $13,078,520 for the utility fund. It was noted this is a balanced budget.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
