Montague County Commissioners wrap up budget hearings
Montague County will move forward with plans to keep county-wide voting in place following action by the commissioner’s court on Tuesday.
The court met in called session Tuesday for a pair of public hearings on the proposed tax rate, and the application for a successful designation in the county-wide polling place program.
A 42 cent per $100 in property value tax rate is being considered for 2015. This rate is .058 cents higher than the 2014 rate of .3620 cents. The proposed tax rate divides into .34890 for maintenance and operations and .01310 for debt service. Read the full story in the mid-week News. On Friday city officials reported the intersection at Rock and Pillar was closed due to a sinkhole in the street. This area has been experiencing major drainage problems for many years damaging culverts and the street asphalt and concrete, with a portion of the street collapsing earlier in the spring. Drivers should avoid this area.
The Nocona City Council approved a trio of Nocona Economic Development Corporation requests and considered infrastructure work questioned by a city council.
Councilors met on June 10. Two of the NEDC requests had already been presented with the timeclock for comment started. With that time limit over, the requests were finalized.
The Type A and B Boards will spend $19,225 at the Indian Oaks Golf Club for equipment, aerifying and top dressing the greens and batteries for rental carts. It also will expend $20,000 to the Nocona Chisholm Trail Rodeo Arena Committee to build new concrete bleachers, railings, fence and platform.
The third NEDC request is a new one related to a Type B board loan of $200,000 to Amy and Chris Nunneley for a new apartment and office construction project.
