Published

on

The Main Street Christmas Festival Committee is getting ready to kick off the holiday season in Bowie with its “Hanging of the Green” event.
During Hanging of the Green Main Street volunteers decorate the 90 lamp posts in the downtown area with lighted Christmas wreathes and garland.
Several community organizations as well as students from Bowie ISD support this festive event by volunteering their Saturday morning to decorate downtown. Main Street Bowie welcomes everyone to participate.
All volunteers are asked to meet at the City of Bowie Auditorium at 9 a.m. near the corner of Tarrant and Mason on Nov. 11.
Main Street Bowie staff and or volunteers will provide a brief demonstration, instructional sheets, and the supplies you will need. However, step stools are appreciated, if you have one then bring it.
Students and groups looking for community service credit can find it with Main Street Bowie. If you, your community, school, or church group would like to help the Main Street volunteers decorate downtown Bowie for the holidays, call Shannon Skiles at Main Street Bowie, 872-6246 or email her at [email protected] for additional details.
