Chicken and Bread Days Art Show wants you
With Chicken and Bread Days Heritage Festival only a month away, local artists are invited to submit their artwork for the annual art exhibit on Oct. 5.
The exhibit is open for the following categories: Painting, works on paper, photography and 3D.
Age groups are: Age nine and under; 10-14 years; 15-18 years and 19 and up. Each artist may enter up to three pieces of art per category. An awards reception will be at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 at the library.
All pieces must be dry and ready to hang. Due to space limitations limit pieces to 24-inches X 30-inches in dimension.
On the back of each piece permanently attach your name, title of piece, dimensions, medium and price or not for sale if appropriate.
The Bowie Alliance for Education and the Arts requires a 20 percent donation on sales of work during the exhibit.
Works must be delivered to the Bowie Public Library between noon and 6 p.m. on Oct. 4. Work must be picked up between 4-4:30 p.m. on Oct. 5.
Entry forms for the show are available at the library, 301 Walnut and at the Bowie Community Development office, 101 E. Pecan.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week
Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
