BOWIE SPORTS ROUNDUP: Bowie JV’s top Jacksboro on road

The Bowie High School boys’ Junior Varsity Maroon and JV girls both won on Friday night against Jacksboro on the road.
The JV girls won 38-35 while the JV Maroon boys’ squad crushed Jacksboro 74-28.
Carli Shields paced the girls with 12 points. The Lady Rabbits held Jacksboro scoreless in the second quarter.
Spenser Meekins dropped in 13 points for JV Maroon, which held Jacksboro to one fourth-quarter point.
There was no freshman girls’ or JV White game on Friday.

JUNIOR HIGH
The Bowie Junior High School seventh-grade “A” boys’ basketball team earned a 39-24 victory over Paradise in District 3A-9 action on Monday at BJH.
Heston Tole paced the team with 15 points.
Paradise won the “B” game 20-17, despite Ian Ashley’s 12 points.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
