The Bowie High School baseball team remained two games clear of everyone else in District 3A-9 with an 11-0 victory over Nocona on Friday.
Cooper Cantwell pitched a five-inning scoreless game, and Nocona didn’t help themselves any committing six errors.
Bowie improved to 16-1-2, 6-0 in District 3A-9 while Nocona dropped to 6-7, 2-4.
Despite being under .500 in district play, Nocona still has plenty to play for this season.
“We’re not going to give up,” Nocona second-year head coach Brent Lewis said. “The kids have been working hard and putting in the time. Anything can happen.”
There are still eight district games remaining.
Meanwhile, Bowie has become the class of District 3A-9 with its pitching, timely hitting and solid defense.
“I thought we played well,” Bowie baseball coach Ryan Rogers said. “We scored four runs in the top of the first, and we were able to settle in. Then, we had the other big inning. We did what we needed to do. It was a good win for us.”
Bowie capped the game by turning what Rogers called “the best double play the team has turned all year.”
