Both the Forestburg High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams bounced back from losses to Slidell earlier last week with convincing victories over Gold-Burg on Friday.
The girls opened the evening’s events. The Lady Horns had an impressive showing, trouncing Gold-Burg 80-8.
“We had a good game,” said Forestburg coach Rosana Barbosa. “It was nice to have every player on the team play and produce positive results.”
Forestburg’s defense allowed the Lady Bears to score no more than four points in any quarter, while the offense was firing on all cylinders.
“They played strong defense,” Barbosa said. “We were able to stop their plays.”
Meanwhile, it was not a good showing for the Lady Bears. The offense was shut out in the first and only scored one point in the third. The most they mustered was a four-point showing in the second quarter. Only three players scored for Gold-Burg Tuesday.
Chelsie Gerlach led the Lady Bears with three points, adding eight rebounds and a block. Stormey Edwards recorded two points with two rebounds and a steal; Megan Edwards added one point with two rebounds. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.
