Local Texans rally to help hurricane victims

Montague County citizens stepped up to help Hurricane Harvey victims by initiating supply drives and getting those donations enroute to south Texas.
In Bowie, numerous churches, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8789 and groups of citizens were accepting donations of everything from water to diapers. The Nocona Chamber of Commerce and other citizens also put together several trailers of supplies that were on the road south on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Wednesday a small group of hearty volunteers were sorting and packaging supplies gathered from businesses and individuals during the past few days.

Over in Nocona similar activities were taking place at the Nocona Chamber of Commerce and The Veranda Inn as they rounded up supplies.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
