Tanner Fenoglio grew up in the small town of Nocona listening to his grandfather, Don Sewell, singing to his grandchildren while his grandmother, Mackie, played piano.
Their love for music rubbed off on their young grandson, who picked up a guitar his senior year of high school and taught himself to play.
“I started messing around and learning how to play,” said Fenoglio. “I took one guitar lesson, but learned by looking online and listening to songs. I had never sung a whole lot, but started singing when I played and that’s how I got started.”
Fenoglio wrote his first song “Realize” his senior year, which he played at his 2005 high school graduation with the Nocona High School choir singing harmony.
He has come a long way since those days, releasing his first album on iTunes in early March with the single “This Ain’t the Movies” rising to number 55 on the Texas Regional Radio Charts.
