FOOTBALL: It’s a ‘Horn’ of Plenty for Forestburg

Well, Forestburg High School quarterback Matthew Wallace sure picked a fine time for a breakout performance.
Wallace was 14-of-17 passing for 196 yards and five touchdowns and he gained 140 more yards on 11 carries as the Longhorns topped Montague County rival Saint Jo 69-54 on Friday night at Longhorn Field.
Emotions ran high in this game featuring schools roughly 14 miles apart.
Forestburg head coach Wayne Tuckwell said he knew Wallace was capable of such a game.
“It’s been there all season for him,” Tuckwell said. “I think in many games he’s played this year, he’s played well beyond his years. To rush the way he did, and throw the way he did says a lot about him. He’s learning and getting better.”
Saint Jo head coach Chad Tallon applauded both teams, but he said a Panther turnover and failure to grab an onside kick in the third quarter turned the tide in favor of the Longhorns.
