Friends ready art reception for new local artist

Published

on

The Friends of the Bowie Public Library will have an art reception for Angela White from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 13 at the library.
White is associated with Jagged Cat Studio and Time Lord at Amazon.com. She earned a bachelor of fine arts in studio art, drawing and painting at the University of North Texas. She and her husband Scott moved to Bowie from Keller April 2017.
She enjoys painting pet portraiture of all animals for her clients. Her current focus in personal art goes back to her roots of growing up around her “cowboy neighbors” depicting the dusty, hard work, and grit of humans and animals alike. She also is painting multiple murals where she is employed.
The public is invited to attend.

Artist’s biography: Angela L. White was born in Belleville, IL, and moved to Texas with her family in 1976 where she grew up in the small town of Rendon. With horses in her backyard and horse magazines in her mailbox, she had plenty of equine models from which to develop her drawing skills. Attending school in Mansfield ISD, Angela won multiple school art awards. As a teen, art awards were won at the Fort Worth Southwestern Exposition Livestock Show & Rodeo Youth Art Contest and the I Have A Dream Foundation’s “Draw Your Dreams” Art Contest and Charity Auction. Working at a large boarding stable and showing horses around the U.S. helped her to continue to gain knowledge of her favorite subjects. As an adult Angela spent a few years living in Florida and Kansas, but then was happy to return to her “home” state of Texas in 2001. As side projects she had always worked on commissioned artwork for friends and coworkers, but returned to college in 2007 to pursue art at a more professional level. She completed a BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Drawing and Painting at the University of North Texas, graduating magna cum laude. In her limited professional career, Angela has won several awards: Best Work On Paper at the 1st Annual DFW International Airport Art Exhibit juried by the National Arts Council (2007), Best In Show at the “Keller’s Got Talent” Art Exhibit (2011), 1st Place-Painting Division at the “Keller’s Got Talent” Art Exhibit (2015), and 2nd and 3rd Places in Bowie’s own “Chicken and Bread Days” Art Exhibit (2017). She has clients in Canada, Virginia, Florida, and of course Texas. Angela mostly enjoys painting pet portraiture of all animal types for her clients. However, her current focus of personal artwork goes back to her roots of growing up around her “cowboy neighbors” in Rendon, paintings depicting the dusty, hard work, and grit of humans and animals alike. She also has a work in progress painting multiple murals at the Amazon.com warehouse where she is employed. In April of 2017 Angela moved from the Keller suburbs to acreage outside of Bowie where she and her husband Scott are building a home.
