Nocona teams to lose to Jacksboro

Published

Baseball
The Nocona baseball team lost on Friday night hosting Jacksboro.
The Tigers won 17-4 after five innings due to run-rule in a game where the Indians had to scrap for every inning played.
Nocona started in a hole down 9-0 before it had even batted. The Indians hit back, loading the bases up with no outs. Luke Fuller then drew a walk to score a run and Charlie Fuller then hit a single to drive in another run. Miguel Olivares then was hit by a pitch that drove in another run to make it 9-3.
A change at pitcher for Jacksboro put an end to the scoring in the inning as the next two batters struck out to end things.
The Tigers had another big inning with their bats in the second, scoring seven runs to make the score 16-3. Nocona had no answer this time around with their bats despite Kooper Hansard getting on base thanks to an error.
The third inning saw neither team have any luck scoring. Both teams got one runner on base with one out, but neither could capitalize.
The fourth inning the Tigers added one more run to make the score 17-3.
Heading into the fifth inning, the Indians would need to score at least five runs to keep from ending the game early due to run-rule.
Luke Fuller got on base thanks to an error with one out.
He would work his way around the bases and eventually scored thanks to a wild pitch to make the score 17-4.
The game would eventually end with that being the final score.

Softball
The Nocona Lady Indians lost at home against a tough Jacksboro team on Friday night.
The Lady Tigers won 19-4 after three innings due to run-rule, but at least there were some fireworks from Nocona.
Makenna Nobile hit a two-run home run in the first inning and Skye Kirby later hit sole home run in the second inning.
The other run came on the final at-bat in the third inning. Avery Crutsinger drove in a run on a single, but would then get caught on the base paths for the game’s final out.
On defense, too many fielding errors (seven) and too many hits given up (11) led to a lot of runs for Jacksboro.

Published

New Saint Jo Boy’s Basketball Coach Terry McLennan said the school’s family atmosphere is what prompted him to join the Panther family.

“This is an opportunity to be an important program but also part of a great community,” McLennan said. “I’ve been looking to get back to a small town environment like the one I grew up in and played ball and this should do that.”

McLennan played basketball in Hubbard outside of Waco. McLennan comes to town after being the assistant girl’s basketball coach in Grand Prairie.

McLennan contends he’s a defensive style of coach but says his team will focus on intensity.
