Alderman Thomas appointed Saint Jo mayor

This past week Colton Thomas was appointed to fill out the unexpired one-year term of mayor for the Saint Jo City Council.
The city council met on Oct. 8 to reorganize, along with canceling its election due to a lack of contested races. Saint Jo has been without a mayor since mid-July when Kelly Williams resigned with a little more than a year left on the term.
Thomas, who works as a firefighter/EMT for the Decatur Fire Department and is a longtime member of the Saint Jo Volunteer Fire Department, has been serving as mayor protem. With the council’s appointment he will serve out the term until next year’s election. He has been on the council for three years.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
