The fifth annual Texas State Bison Music Festival is set for Quitaque at 10 a.m. on Sept. 19.
All proceeds from the festival will fund restoration projects at Caprock Canyons State Park. The restoration focuses on turning 11,000 acres of the park back into rolling plains suitable for bison.
Projects include invasive plant eradication, prairie grass restoration and cultivating native wildlife.
The festival begins with an arts and crafts show, followed by the music at 3 p.m.
This year’s musical guests are Lee Roy Parnell, Gary Nunn, Mark Powell, Zac Wilkerson, Jamie Richards and Kevin Deal. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs.
General admission tickets are $25 in advance at the park or online through TicketRiver. Day-of-festival tickets cost $30 at the gate, and the event will take place rain or shine.
Visitors may donate directly to the Texas State Bison Herd Restoration project or purchase merchandise to support the efforts.
