A sold-out audience attended the 2016 Bowie Chamber of Commerce banquet Monday night as new officers were introduced, awards presented and citizens encouraged to “don’t waste time looking at the closed door” and walk through the open door.
After a challenging 2015, Banquet Emcee Dr. Arn Anderson, Bowie veterinarian, established a positive theme for the evening that began with each table citing one bad thing that impacted the community in 2015 and writing it on a card.
The index cards cited declining oil prices and closure of the Bowie hospital both resulting in job loss.
Anderson took the cards and placed them in a shredder telling the crowd, 2015 is gone and it is time to Brag about Bowie, Boost Bowie and be part of Bowie by participating.
Kevin Pullen received the Frances Brite Citizen of the Year Award. He is pictured surrounded by past and present members of youth league teams he has coached. See the full story and lots more photos in the mid-week News.
