The Amity Club and the Bowie Alliance for Education and the Arts present the 13th Annual Mad Hatter Tea and Style Show at 2 p.m. on Aug. 5 at Freedom Life Church, 204 Theater Road.
While enjoying tasty delicacies and teas, guests will see live musical entertainment and may take part in the first ever silent auction.
Tables for the tea will be decorated by different hostesses. All are encouraged to wear a hat.
Tickets are $18 and may be purchased at the Main Street office at 201-A Walnut Street or call 872-6246. Seating is limited, so advance tickets are recommended. All proceeds benefit group scholarships.
Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
