Political rally hosted on Feb. 15 in Bowie

The Amity Club of Bowie GFWC Texas invites you to Meet the Candidates at a soup dinner and political rally on Feb. 15.
Dinner will feature soups made by the club members and there will be a live auction for desserts. Dinner is by donation only and begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Bowie Community Center, 413 Pelham Street.
All donations support the scholarships presented annually to Bowie, Gold-Burg School graduates and North Central Texas College students.
The political rally will start at 6:30 p.m. There will be an open forum for questions to the candidates. Local, district and state congressional candidates have been invited to attend.

Concert to raise scholarship funds

The Mind’s Eye of Nocona will entertain with music from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s in a concert to support scholarships for Montague County graduating seniors on July 12.
The concert will be at 5 p.m. on July 12 at the Veranda Inn Event Center in Nocona. Tickets are $20 for all table seating. Purchase six or more tickets for a reserved table.
The band invites you to brown bag your dinner and BYOB. Proceeds support scholarships for seniors from Nocona, Prairie Valley, Saint Jo, Bowie, Forestburg and Gold-Burg.

Lake Nocona was filled with sparkles during the July 4th holiday

Fireworks abounded at Lake Nocona during the July 4th weekend. Along with the annual Lions Club fireworks, the Rusty and Billy Henley family fireworks lit up the skies. Saint Jo Firefighters also hosted their annual fireworks event. (Photo by Trena Henley)

BCDB spruces up signal boxes

Bowie Community Development Board recently unveiled a new beautification efforts in downtown that decorates up a plain metal box. After getting approval from the Texas Department of Transportation a plastic skin showcasing historic Bowie photos was created and wrapped around the box. This box is located at Smythe and Wise, showing historical photos from this area of downtown. Similar skins are located in windows in downtown.
